It was all even in the Real Madrid vs Manchester City match, as the game ended 3-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu. The eventful game showcased two of the best teams in the world, and both showcased why they were the favorites to win the Champions League this season. Manchester City feel like they have an advantage in the tie as they head to their home ground for the second leg next week. Real Madrid has never won at the Etihad Stadium before, but now they will have to do it to advance to the Champions League semi-finals. Real Madrid's Federico Valverde talked after the game, and his message worries Real Madrid fans.
Valverde scored the 3-3 equalizer in the 79th minute when his lethal volley went into the bottom left corner of the net past Stefan Ortega. The Santiago Bernabeu exploded with emotion as the goal meant that Real Madrid still had life in the tie. That is not what it felt to Valverde, though, after the game. Valverde was asked about his reaction to the game he had just played in, and his reply gave off a feeling that Real Madrid fans tend to worry.
Valverde said, "This draw just feels like a defeat for us; we wanted to win. I'm very tired. City holds possession really well, but I will run till the last breath for this team." Valverde then described the goal he scored to equalize the game. The Uruguayan said, "I tried to hit the ball with all my soul and also take advantage of the scream of the fans."
Before the second leg against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next week, Real Madrid will play in La Liga to continue to get closer to the league title. Real Madrid will take on Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. Mallorca played in the Copa Del Rey final this past weekend, where they drew 1-1 against Athletic Bilbao but lost 4-2 on penalties.
