Lionel Messi has won many trophies over the years, and even though he is very happy to win those prestigious trophies like the Champions League and league titles with clubs like PSG and FC Barcelona, the Argentine star loves to win trophies for his nation. Messi and the Argentine national team have won another Copa America trophy across three years after they defeated Colombia 1-0 this past weekend at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Messi's first trophy with Argentina was the 2021 Copa America, and then he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup against France in Qatar. Despite all of this success, Messi remains humble, and he wanted his teammates in the national team to remain the same after the win against Colombia in the Copa America USA 2024.

Rodrigo De Paul spoke days after winning his second Copa America trophy with Messi and Argentina. He mentioned Messi's message to the players after the amazing win against Colombia. De Paul said, "When the final ended [Copa America Final 2024], Messi came, and the first thing he said was, ‘Nobody taunts anyone; let’s celebrate and enjoy our victory.’"

De Paul continued to talk about Argentina's win and felt that the team deserved more respect. De Paul said, "They always find something against the winner. Whether it’s that we got help, or that we taunt others, or that it’s not such a good team, or that South America is less developed than Europe, we didn't see any fuss about that when they say those things about us. All these things are said to discredit what we’ve achieved."

The Atletico Madrid midfielder is not afraid to express how he feels about the doubters and leaves a message for them. The Copa America winner with the Argentina national team said, "I love shutting people up. I swear, I love it. For those who speak out of malice, I love it. Then I go and see what those same people say."

De Paul and Argentina player's reaction to Lionel Messi crying in Copa America Final

One of the moments of the Copa America Final between Argentina and Colombia was when Lionel Messi was crying on the bench when he came off the pitch injured. De Paul and the rest of the Argentina players felt motivated by seeing that image which led tothem winning the game in extra time courtesy of a 112th minute winner by Lautaro Martinez.

De Paul said, "When Leo comes out, they focus on him on the big screen and he was crying. We saw it ourselves on the field. There was a total uproar because of that image, and we saw it. And then we said: 'We are winning this for him.'"
