Many fans want to see the reunion of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. in the same team, even though they saw it last year at PSG. With Messi at Inter Miami, fans are begging Neymar to join the MLS club to see the partnership one more time. In a recent interview with Band Sports, Neymar was asked about his relationship with Messi and if they often talk. The Brazilian star said, “We talk a lot, even yesterday he sent me a message. We’re happy for each other, he sent me a message when we won a title here too. He’s a great guy, a mirror for me, he’s a great idol, besides being an idol, he’s a friend I have.” Many think that since they conversate a lot, the topic of reuniting at Inter Miami is possible. Neymar’s contract with Al Hilal expires in the summer of 2025.
Messi was Neymar’s teammate, and he played with him the most during his career. The two players played 206 matches together during their time at FC Barcelona and PSG. They have combined for 67 goals and have played over 16,000 minutes together. At FC Barcelona, the two played a total of 161 matches together and combined for 56 goals. At PSG, they played 45 matches together, where they combined for 11 goals.
Neymar may have excited Inter Miami fans when he addressed the rumors of him going to Santos FC after Al Hilal. The Al Hilal star said, “What they said is a total lie. There is nothing planned. I have one more year in my contract with Al Hilal. I hope I can have a great season. I missed out on that last one. Let’s live little by little. There is a lot of time ahead. Obviously, Santos is my heart club; one day, I want to return, yes, but I don’t have anything planned in my head.”
Neymar is one of the most talented footballers the world has ever seen, and he is considered by some to be one of the best players of all time. That description seems crazy to say since he struggled with injuries and never won the Ballon d’Or in his career. Neymar was asked if he feels it is unfair that he never won the Ballon d’Or in his career.
Neymar said, “Football being unfair to me because I didn’t win the Ballon d’Or? I was a bit unlucky, I got seriously injured in the last six years. They weren’t muscle injuries, they were serious injuries that took me out for months. But football wasn’t unfair to me. Quite the contrary, football gave me everything I have today. I’m a very grateful to the ball, to football, to God for giving me the gift of playing football.”
“The Ballon d’Or is obviously every player’s dream, but I don’t think it is the maximum best thing. Having people’s respect is already enough.” The closest he was able to win the prestigious award was in 2015 when he was ranked third, while Cristiano Ronaldo was second and Lionel Messi won the award.
