Al Hilal CEO Esteve Calzada has poured cold water on speculation linking the Saudi Arabian club with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2025. In a recent interview, Calzada dismissed the rumours, stating, "That sounds like science fiction."

The Portuguese superstar, who currently plays for Al-Nassr, has been linked with a move to Al Hilal following rumours of Neymar Jr's potential departure. However, Calzada was quick to quash these speculations, emphasising that Ronaldo is not currently a free agent and it would be inappropriate to discuss players under contract with other clubs.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is not our player, so it's difficult to comment on that," Calzada said. "He's not a free agent and it's not good to talk about players who have contracts at another club."

The Ronaldo-Al Hilal Link

The rumours linking Ronaldo with a move to Al Hilal have been circulating for several weeks, with many fans speculating about the potential of seeing the two biggest names in Saudi Arabian football playing for the same team. Ronaldo's arrival in the Saudi Pro League has undoubtedly raised the profile of the league and Al-Nassr, and a move to Al Hilal would further solidify his status as the face of football in the region.

Al Hilal's Ambitions

Al Hilal are one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia and have a long history of signing big-name players. The club has previously been linked with moves for a number of high-profile stars, including Neymar Jr and Lionel Messi. However, the club's CEO has been keen to stress the importance of building a sustainable team rather than simply pursuing big-name signings.

The Future of Cristiano Ronaldo

While a move to Al Hilal may not be on the cards for Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar's future remains uncertain. With his contract at Al-Nassr set to expire in 2025, there has been speculation about a possible return to Europe or a move to another league in Asia.

The Impact on Saudi Arabian Football

Regardless of whether Cristiano Ronaldo makes a move to Al Hilal, his arrival in Saudi Arabia has already had a significant impact on the development of football in the country. The Saudi Pro League has attracted a number of high-profile players in recent years, and the league's popularity is growing both domestically and internationally.

Conclusion

While the rumours linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to Al Hilal have been exciting for fans, it seems that the club's CEO is keen to play down the speculation. However, the Portuguese superstar's presence in Saudi Arabia has undoubtedly raised the profile of the league and has helped to attract more investment in the sport. As the Saudi Pro League continues to grow, it will be interesting to see which other big-name players make the move to the Middle East.
