Fresh off their historic Libertadores and Brasileirao double, Botafogo have set their sights on Colombian striker Juan Camilo Hernández, currently shining in MLS with the Columbus Crew.

Hernández has been a revelation since joining the Crew, quickly establishing himself as one of the league's most formidable attackers. His impressive performances have not only earned him a recall to the Colombian national team under Néstor Lorenzo but have also attracted interest from top clubs across the continent.

Botafogo Join Chase for Colombian Striker Cucho Hernández

According to journalist Julián Capera, both Mexican giants Monterrey and Brazilian powerhouse Botafogo are keen on securing the services of the 25-year-old. However, any club looking to sign Hernández will face a hefty price tag, as Columbus Crew paid a reported $11 million to Watford for his services.

Botafogo, in particular, are eager to bolster their squad following their continental triumph. The Rio de Janeiro-based club has been closely monitoring Hernández's progress and is believed to be willing to meet Columbus Crew's valuation.

Hernández's impressive numbers this season speak for themselves. The Colombian forward was named the second-best player in MLS in 2024, behind only Lionel Messi, and was included in the league's best XI. He made 40 appearances and scored a remarkable 25 goals.

As the transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether Botafogo or Monterrey will be able to secure Hernández's signature. One thing is certain, however: the Colombian striker is a highly sought-after commodity, and his future is likely to be the subject of much speculation in the coming months.
