Real Madrid will soon travel to London to get ready for the Champions League Final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium. Most of the Real Madrid squad is fit and ready to go for the final, but one of their star and crucial players this season could miss out on the final. The concern for Real Madrid is that they could lose their goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, who is very sick and has not trained this week for the past few days. Miguel Angel Diaz from COPE reports that Andriy Lunin suffers from influenza B, and it is very likely that he will not be able to travel to London with the team tomorrow to avoid getting his teammates sick as well. Arancha Rodriguez reports that the Ukrainian goalkeeper will travel to London on Friday or Saturday but not with the team.

The Ukrainian keeper is doing his best to keep fit despite suffering an illness. Lunin’s wife posted a picture on Instagram that shows the Real Madrid keeper training on his own at his house. Lunin’s wife wrote, “When fever is not an obstacle to train. I’m so proud of you.” This now makes Thibaut Courtois the favorite to start in the Champions League Final.

The goalkeeper for the Champions League final has been a debate amongst fans as many want to see Courtois start the match at Wembley Stadium but would also predate Lunin since he played more games this season and has been crucial for the team. Lunin has played a total of 31 matches this season for Real Madrid across all competitions. He conceded 32 goals and kept 12 clean sheets.

Due to a serious cruciate ligament tear before the start of the season, Courtois has just made four appearances this season for Real Madrid, but in those matches, he has yet to concede a goal and kept four clean sheets. Real Madrid will have to depend on Courtois, who is one of the best goalkeepers in the world but has just recently come back from an injury.

Carlo Ancelotti on who he will play in the UCL Final

Ancelotti was asked this week about the goalkeeper situation, and the media wanted to know who he would start for the Champions League Final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium. Ancelotti said, “Courtois or Lunin? I will decide until the game. One of the two will play, the other on the bench (Laughs).”

If Lunin starts, it will be his 32nd game of the season with Real Madrid, the most he has ever played for the club. If Courtois starts the match, it will be only his fifth game for Real Madrid this season, the lowest amount since he arrived at the club. Courtois started in Real Madrid’s previous match against Real Betis, which ended 0-0.
