Football is once again tarnished by disgusting abuse from fans. In the Serie A game between Udinese and AC Milan, the game was temporarily stopped for racial abuse towards Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan. This isn't the first time a situation like this has happened in football and in Serie A.

Last year, Romelu Lukaku was subject to racial abuse by Juventus fans in a 1-1 draw in the Coppa Italia. The game was played in the Juventus stadium, and Lukaku was set to take a penalty at the last minute. Juventus was leading 1-0, but before Lukaku kicked the ball, the Juventus fans tried to get to the player to distract him. It didn't work, and Lukaku scored the crucial penalty. Lukaku then taunted the Juventus fans and told them to shut up.
In 2019, Lukaku was abused by Cagliari fans during Inter Milan's visit to Cagliari's Stadio Sardegna stadium. The abuse was heavy after Lukaku scored against Cagliari, and the player was furious at the referee for not stopping the game to stop the monkey chants.
In 2024, Udinese fans went after Maignan with racist chants after Milan took the lead at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine. Ruben Loftus Cheek scored in the 31st minute of the game to give Milan the lead. A minute later, Maignan goes up to the referee and tells him he does not wish to continue. The referee listens and stops the game for 10 minutes as the French keeper returns to the dressing room.
After ten minutes of delay, both teams returned to the pitch to play. Udinese grabbed the equalizer just before halftime, courtesy of Lazar Samardzic. In the second half, Udinese made a comeback as they took the lead in the 62nd minute from a goal by Florian Thauvin.

Luka Jovic scored a header in the 83rd minute to give Milan the equalizer. AC Milan were chasing the game and wanted to score another before time ran out. They would go on to do just that in the final minutes of the game, Noah Okafor scoring a half-volley past Udinese's Okoye. Milan won the game 3-2, remains third with 45 points, and is now four points behind 2nd place Juventus and six minutes behind league leaders Inter Milan.
Rafael Leao celebrates the win with an Instagram post that includes a photo of him, Okafor, Jovic, and Maignan. His caption read," Even better win like this! SAY NO TO RACISM..."
