Mauricio Pochettino's departure as Paris Saint-Germain manager is almost a done deal. Zinedine Zidane was one of the most popular names to succeed him, but everything indicates that the new coach of Lionel Messi's team would be Christophe Galtier, currently at Nice.

‘Zizou’ gave an extensive interview to the French media L'Equipe and did not close the doors to manage PSG at some point.

"Never say never. Especially when you are a coach today. When I was a player I could choose and go to almost every club. As a coach, there are not fifty clubs I can go to. There are two or three possibilities. If I go back to a club, it's to win. I say that in all modesty. That's why I can't go anywhere."

Paris Saint-Germain has been unable to sign a new coach, as Mauricio Pochettino has not reached an economic agreement to sign the termination of his contract. Although the top candidate is Christophe Gaultier, the owners of PSG do not give up on their dream: to have Zinedine Zidane as their coach.

According to 'Mundo Deportivo', despite the fact that Lucas Ocampos, PSG's sporting director, wants Gaultier, those who fund the club want a coach of more hierarchy and media impact, that is why they have tried to lure Zidane.

Money is —obviously— not an issue for PSG

Of course money would not be an issue, as they are willing to pay whatever Zidane asks for a minimum three-year contract.

Finally, Kylian Mbappé, who is said to have been given a say in the future of the PSG project, dreams of Zidane as his coach, and that is why the Qataris want to keep him happy and bring in the French coach.
