While Messi enjoys Paris, Man Utd legend backs Cristiano Ronaldo and hammers Erik ten Hag

It's been almost a week since the horrific defeat Manchester United suffered against Manchester City in the Derby. That terrible 6-3 loss will probably never be forgotten as long as Erik ten Hag is the Manchester United manager. Of course, critics have come out speaking out loud about the terrible performance of the team, and among those critics is one of the last Red Devil's legends: Patrice Evra.

He has suggested that some players have lost trust in Erik ten Hag. Hook over from Ralf Rangnick the last summer but failed to win the biggest game of the season so far. Speaking in the press, he criticized both the  squad and the coaching staff, saying some players will blame Erik ten Hag for the horrific game and that will affect them in their next game against Everton on the weekend.

Let's remember Erik ten Hag might be seen as a newbie since he just arrived at the biggest football league on the planet. He used to coach Ajax in the Eredivisie. Under Ten Hag's guidance, Ajax reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on a memorable run in 2019 where they lost to Tottenham in the last minute of the second leg. They won three League titles and two cups during his tenure.

His credentials are impressive but it's been harsh for him to get the players on the same page with his style based on possession football and an attacking philosophy. We saw during the week in the UEFA Europa League game against Omonia that they struggled to get that 3-2 victory. Maybe the shadow of the Citizens is still lurking inside the Red Devils players' minds. 

What did Evra say about the squad?

Evra was critical of the Manchester United players, suggesting that they have lost trust in manager Erik ten Hag.  "Is the team strong enough to recover that fast? I don’t know" he concluded. “I think the players and manager will have lost a bit of trust following the derby, some players get sensitive when a manager calls them out after a game, players like to blame people.”
