Liverpool will play the last game of the 2021-22 season on Saturday night, when they face Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League in Stade de France, in a reissue of the final played four years ago in Kyiv, although this time they are convinced they can beat Los Blancos.

Who is Clement Turpin and how have Real Madrid and Liverpool fared under him?

Back then, Loris Karius was defending Liverpool’s goal and not Alisson Becker, who has become an essential player for Jürgen Klopp in recent years, helping The Reds to win the Champions League next season and Premier League a year after that.

But Alisson is not the only player that has improved Liverpool’s roster since that 3-1 defeat against Real Madrid, as they now also have Luis Díaz, who has fitted perfectly in one of the most dangerous attacks in modern soccer, although the key piece for Liverpool is neither Alisson nor Díaz, but Thiago Alcántara.

Will he be ready to play against Real Madrid?

Thiago joined Liverpool back in 2020 out of Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, and since then, he’s become a referent in the midfield for The Reds, making him the most important player on the lineup, as not only he helps with the possession, but especially to create plays and feed the strikers.

Alcántara left the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers during halftime due to muscular soreness, which is why his presence for the final was in doubt, something that Los Blancos were hoping to happen, as his absence would mean having control of the midfield hence imposing their game style as soon as the game started.

But just a day before the game, Jürgen Klopp confirmed that the 31-year-old Spanish international travelled with the team to Paris and will be ready to play, as he was able to recover from the injury in time to the most important game of the season.
