Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have been two of the most outstanding coaches in recent years. The current Manchester City coach is having one of the most important moments in his entire career and proof of this is that last season he won the Champions League with the English team. However, Mourinho sends a message that the Spanish coach will not like at all.
José Mourinho is not one to mince words, but now, before his Roma beat Sheriff of Moldova 3-0 at the close of the group stage of the Europa League, the Portuguese was talking about his market policy of passes and used Manchester City as a (bad) example with a harsh criticism of Pep Guardiola.
The coach of the Roman team assured that his position is austere: "The club will adapt to what we can do. We are all together and we all want the same thing," he began, and then put the Citizens as an opposite reference: "I'm not jealous, but City paid 80 million for Kalvin Phillips, in January they fired him and then signed another. We are different. I would like three or four players, but it is not easy. Honestly, if we signed a defender I would be happy. Would I like it? more? Sure, but it's not possible."
Phillips' case is one of those in which exorbitant figures in his hiring contrasted sharply with the subsequent prominence of the signed figure. The British midfielder arrived in Manchester in mid-2022 from Leeds and, certainly and although also expensive, the figure invested by him was actually 50 million euros. Now, with little experience, Guardiola welcomes letting him go to Juventus, who are looking for a loan, instead of him ending up in another Premier League team. And he also sounds in Bayern Munich.
