The reason why Lionel Messi might not play against LAFC with Inter Miami

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami secured three points this weekend against New York Red Bulls. Gerardo Martino's team played well and felt confident on the field. Goals from Gomes and Messi propelled The Herons forward as they aim to continue winning in order to secure a spot in the MLS playoffs through the wildcard.

Despite entering the game as a substitute, the Argentine was able to make a difference, adding to his tally of 11 goals since his arrival in the United States. His MLS debut ended on a positive note.

However, as Gerardo Martino mentioned in recent days, Messi's physical condition is starting to take a toll. There have even been criticisms from other former footballers suggesting that Messi only walks during Major League Soccer matches. Nevertheless, whether walking or not, Messi has proven why he's the best player in the world and a legend.

With the upcoming match against Nashville in the MLS, Messi might see more minutes, although he would likely start on the bench. With that said, the story could be different in the match against LAFC.

It's important to note that Messi will travel to Argentina for the FIFA International break to face the World Cup qualifiers with Argentina. The former Barcelona player is scheduled to travel on September 4th, a day after the match against LAFC. Given this, it's quite probable that Messi won't play. As of now, nothing is confirmed.
