As has been the case for the past few years, there is no doubt that Lionel Messi is the best footballer in the world. And this season is no exception with 13 games so far. This has led to some fans and pundits questioning why PSG hasn't offered a new deal to the Argentine. And recently rumors have it that he could make a dramatic come-back to Barcelona next summer.

However that is way down the road, we should focus on what's coming this week for Paris Saint Germain. On one hand, Lionel Messi will not play against Benfica on Wednesday due to a calf injury, but it's said that he could be fit for the match against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday.

But right now one thing is for sure: Lionel Messi will not play against Benfica on Wednesday due to a calf injury,  The Argentine was forced off in the second half of PSG's 1-1 draw with Benfica on October 5 and did not play the match against Reims in the Ligue 1.

What the medical report said and who benefits from this

The French champions are yet to lose this season since Galtier took over the team. What can we say about Messi? He has been in scintillating form this season, scoring eight goals and eight assists in 13 appearances across all competitions. But his presence has overshadowed Kylian Mbappé and right now, without the Argentinian in sight the French striker could finally be the star of the team.
