Dutchman Erik ten Hag passed his debut as Manchester United's new manager with flying colors, thrashing Premier League and Champions League runners-up Liverpool 4-0. With goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred, Antony Martial and youngster Facundo Pellistri.
Liverpool sign young Scottish player, he could be a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold
In his first game in the Mancunian bench, the former Ajax boss started with a 4-3-3 formation including De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Bruno Fernandes, Fred; Jadon Sancho, Rashford and Martial, back with the squad after playing the last six months on loan at Sevilla. Despite starting with a much less recognizable eleven, Liverpool dominated the opening stages of an entertaining encounter and had the first chance in the boots of Luis Diaz, who found an excellent David de Gea.
But it was Jadon Sancho who opened the scoring for the first goal of the Ten Hag era. The United fans who filled the stands of the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok were having a great time in a game filled with chances. In the first half we saw three shots hit the posts: two for Liverpool, from debutants Fabio Carvalho and Luis Diaz in just two minutes, and one from Dalot.
Marcus Rashford had two chances for the second goal, although it came after a play inside the Liverpool box that ended with Fred lobbing the ball over Alisson. Jürgen Klopp started early with the usual carousel of changes in a preparation match and a mistake by Rhys Williams was taken advantage of by Martial, who perfectly finished the goal in front of Alisson.
We saw the debut of United's only summer signing so far: left-back Malacia. Both coaches almost completely changed their initial approaches, although we had to wait until the first hour of the match to see another illustrious debut: that of the Uruguayan 'killer' Darwin Nuñez, for whom Liverpool paid 75 million euros to Benfica.
