His abrupt and surprising departure from Real Madrid is still something football fans can't really understand. Why one of the most important clubs in the world captain would leave? The reason is simple: money. Ramos wanted what he thought he had earned after a life-long career at the Bernabeú.

After his feud with Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid's president since 2009 (he is in his second term, he once was their leader from 2000 to 2005), Ramos explored his options. One of them was in England with Manchester United, at that time, they were looking for a center-back, but the legendary defender ended up in Paris with someone who we really didn't think he could stand: Lionel Messi.

Last year seemed like a fantasy. Paris Saint Germain got the services of both Real Madrid and Barcelona's captains in the same season. Nevertheless, only one of them performed well enough to be a member of the PSG's line-up: Lionel Messi. Sergio Ramos had a lot of trouble the first semester in France, a lot of injuries, and even rumors that he wanted to break the deal he then recently signed were in the atmosphere. But in the end, everything turned right.

How much Ramos earns at PSG?

Since the beginning of the season, the Spanish defender has had a better performance than last year and he is even on the starting line-up. And so far, those games he played had convinced the management to renew his contract, which consists of winning up to 10 million euros a year. What is impressive is that the french team could have even signed younger players that charge that, like Virgil van Dijk (31) or Harry Maguire (29).
