As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, several MLS teams have begun talks with Sergio Busquets so that he can join their projects for free in the summer of 2023, when his contract with FC Barcelona expires. There is no information about his renewal with FC Barcelona, despite the fact that he is an important part of Xavi Hernandez's project.

Busquets still plays an important part for the Blaugrana in the center of the pitch despite turning 33. After Xavi Hernandez assumed control of the team last season, the Spaniard displayed exceptionally strong play.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup champion will undoubtedly play a significant role in Barça's season. Beyond that, though, it is unclear what Busquets' prospects would be.

After the upcoming season, the door is open for him to leave next summer as a free agent to another club. Inter Miami is one of the clubs in the MLS that has shown more interest in acquiring his services. The player has not yet made a statement about his departure.

Busquets illustrious career with Barcelona

At Barcelona, Sergio Busquets has had a spectacular career. The 33-year-old rose through the ranks of La Masia to become a living legend of the sport, enjoying incredible success along the whole way. Unfortunately, his tenure at Camp Nou will expire the next year.

After making his debut as a 20-year-old under Pep Guardiola, Busquets has 676 appearances for Barça, contributing 18 goals and 40 assists and winning an incredible 32 titles.
