Cristiano Ronaldo has lost his “King of the Gym” title at Manchester United. The 37-year-old, who has been engulfed in a series of controversies around his future with the Red Devils in recent times, is said to have been regarded as the strongest player at the club, able to leg press up to 250kg per rep. However, he has been overtaken by new signing Casemiro, who can reportedly squat and press closer to 300kg.
The Brazilian's efforts are said to have impressed teammates, who have urged Ronaldo to up his game to regain his title. Casemiro, 30, can reportedly push the weight with ease, meaning Ronaldo, who is said to be able to complete 30 reps per set, is now second in the strong-man rankings in the United squad. Ronaldo returned to the United starting line-up after being left out of their Premier League fixture against Chelsea, after refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham.

His frustrations seemingly softened in the last week or so. He did, however, refuse to acknowledge former United teammate Gary Neville, who has been critical of the forward, when greeting Sky pundits before Sunday's match at Old Trafford. Casemiro, meanwhile, has impressed for United since arriving from Real Madrid in the summer. He shone once again in Sunday's win, and was praised by Sky pundits as he continues his start to life in the Premier League.
While he took a while to break into the starting XI, he has been a mainstay ever since, with United manager Erik ten Hag insisting he is at the “top of world football”. United have broken into the top four of the league table after a slow start to the season. The solidity Casemiro has brought into the engine room has had a lot to do with it. The former Madrid man has also brought class into the position, having been a serial winner in Spain.
