Real Madrid will not reinforce its defense, despite the long-term absences of centre-backs Eder Militao and David Alaba due to serious knee injuries, and, as confirmed by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, it rules out going to the winter market to hire a defender.

"At this moment we are not considering signing another centre-back because we think we are missing two very important centre-backs but we have two others in whom we trust a lot like Nacho and Rüdiger, plus others who in an emergency can do well like Tchouaméni and Carvajal. At this moment We are not contemplating signing a centre-back," Ancelotti said at a press conference.

The injuries to the cruciate knee ligament of the two centre-backs who started as starters at the beginning of the season do not cause Real Madrid to change their philosophy of not signing in the winter.

"We are not going to sign," Ancelotti insisted in a second response, definitively closing the possibility of reinforcing the team in winter after the center-back study carried out by the club and ruling out the option of bringing in any of its players on loan.

A resounding start

In the first game of 2024, the Italian coach will already suffer the inconvenience of having only two center backs available in the first team. The suspension of Nacho Fernández will cause Aurélien Tchoauméni to abandon the midfield position and have to play in the center of the defense.
