The brazilian has shown a great display alongside Messi during the start of the season in France

During his time at Barcelona, Neymar was seen as one of the most prolific players of his era and everything seemed to point towards him becoming a Barça legend alongside Messi and Suárez, or the MSN. This popular trio was a nightmare to defenders all across Europe for some time and even won a Champions League in 2015.

Two years later the world was shocked to know that the infamous trio was dismantled as Neymar joined PSG for a record amount of 222 million euros. The brazilian became PSG's next big star and just when he was about to assert absolute domination over Ligue 1, Kylian Mbappé showed up.

Neither Messi nor Neymar, these are the strikers who inspire Erling Haaland

Neymar has been somewhat regular with his stats at PSG but never reached his peak like he did in Barcelona. That seemed to be the case until the arrival of one of his closest friends and favorite partners on the pitch, Lionel Messi. Tension started to rise with his arrival and after Mbappé's renewal, he tried to get rid of ‘Ney’ and minimize Messi.

In spite Mbappé's attitudes with his teammates, Messi and Neymar have been the most influential of the team this season. In fact, Neymar Jr is the player involved in most goals across Europe at 30 years of age. The brazilian has been directly involved in 15 goals, scoring 8 himself and delivering 7 assists.

Neymar's connection with Messi

The chemistry between the former Barcelona players is evident. Neymar has given Messi 2 assists so far and Messi has delivered 3 of them to the brazilian. Together they make 26 direct involvement in PSG goals this season and they're the ones, almost singlehandedly maintaining PSG at the top of the table in Ligue 1.
