PSG go into this evening's Champions League match against Juventus as the only undefeated team in Europe's top five leagues. The Parisians have brushed aside every opponent with 11 points from five games. This puts them level on points with Benfica, whom they need to match or better to finish top of the group.
Juventus, on the other hand, have had a disastrous run in the Champions League, and risk the ignominy of becoming the first Italian club since 2004-05 to lose five out six games in the group stages. Although the Old Lady will only be playing for pride, they will want to avoid any unnecessary embarrassment.
The news that Paulo Dybala received 50 days before the start of the World Cup
The bad news for them is that MNM or Mbappe, Neymar and Messi come into the fixture firing on all cylinders. Mbappe scored a brace in the reverse fixture and will be looking to make it home and away wins in Turin. The French side will not want to leave Italy with anything less than top spot in the group. Expect a busy day in goal for Szczesny.
Beyond this match Juventus have a blockbuster against Inter on the 7th of November, so they may be tempted to conserve their resources for Serie A. They will just have to evaluate whether potential embarrassment this evening is worth holding back for the Nerazzuri. Seven days later they have another big game against the capital side Lazio.
PSG's fixture list resumes with Lorient on 6th followed by Auxerre on 13th. After the international break Strasbourg awaits on the 28th of December. Of the two teams involved in tonight's Champions League fixture, PSG have the kinder schedule, meaning there is absolutely no reason for them to hold back, and every reason for them to send a message to the rest of Europe.
