A new era of soccer has begun and the last piece of the era that ends is certainly going to be the upcoming World Cup. The next generation of players are emerging and already leaving their print in soccer history. The market for soccer players was revolutionized when Barcelona received 222 million euros for a 25 year old Neymar Jr. From that point on, the market was changed forever.
Now, Kylian Mbappé leads the list for the most expensive players in the world, and the reason why may be strongly linked to two factors. One of them is that the market values after Neymar's move to PSG went over the top. The other one is related closely to how he managed his own market value during last transfer window playing PSG and Real Madrid.
While Mbappé costs 83 million a year, the staggering amount Messi made for PSG
Ronaldinho gives his verdict on Messi's legend! He is not the best in history
Mbappé's fee to sign a renewal with PSG was 150 million euros. Apart from that, he has the highest salary in PSG and complete control over his image rights. How did he manage to achieve this? He had a strong bid from Real Madrid and caused PSG to say yes to all his demands, no matter how expensive.
But this is not the only determining factor for Mbappé's price. He's also one of the best players in the world and in fact has better stats than Cristiano and Messi themselves at his age. Mbappé is only 23 years old and is a regular with France's national team, an indisputable member of the starting eleven in PSG, one of Europe's top scorers and one of the best young players in the world alongside Haaland of Phil Foden.
‘Donatello’ is now 23 years old and he has 235 goals vs Messi's 140 and Cristiano's 102 at that age. Mbappé has also won the World Cup, something that neither Messi nor Cristiano have done. The frenchman also has 1 World Cup Young Player of The Year award, 1 Golden Boy award and a Nations League trophy. His 160 million euros price is a heavy bid on Mbappé as his young age is an opportunity for development and at this rate, he might be breaking records some time soon.
