Erling Haaland is one of the most prolific goalscorers in world football, and it's no secret that teams are trying to figure out how to stop him. So far, only one team has been able to consistently stop Haaland from scoring: Liverpool, under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp. In four games the Norweigan has only scored one goal against The Reds.
The Norwegian international has been on a tear since breaking onto the scene with Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, scoring an incredible 29 goals in just 27 appearances for the Austrian club. Haaland's goal-scoring exploits have continued at an alarming rate. When he moved to Borussia Dortmund the then 20-year-old found the back of the net 86 times in just 89 appearances for the German giants.

Manchester United and Liverpool want this player from Barcelona
Despite his young age (22), Haaland has already established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in world football and it is easy to see why so many big clubs are already afraid of him. However, there is one man who has managed to stop Manchester City's number nine from scoring on more than one occasion: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
The German tactician has so far masterminded four victories in a row against Erling Haaland. Twice over RB Salzburg in the Champions League group stage in 2019, with Haaland failing to score in the second leg against Klopp's Reds. More recently, Klopp's Liverpool side was once again able to keep Haaland at bay as they beat Manchester City 3-1 in the Community Shield and in last weekend's league game victory over the Citizens by the minimum.
Klopp set up his team to defend deep and compact. This made it difficult for Haaland to get space to run anywhere. Whenever he did receive possession, he was quickly surrounded by Liverpool players and closed down, we could even say he was always followed by Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk.
