As reported by ESPN, Atletico Madrid are in the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in this summer transfer window. Ronaldo’s options are looking more and more limited as his agent, Jorge Mendes, struggles to find a club interested in signing him this summer.

The Portuguese wants to leave Manchester United to play for a club that will play in the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. That is the main reason why Jorge Mendes is looking for a new destination for him, offering him to several important clubs.

Atletico Madrid enter the race for Cristiano Ronaldo

PSG and Chelsea have ruled out his signing at the moment, so Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are the only ones interested in his incorporation to boost their offense. The Frenchman has reportedly rejected a hundred million euro offer from Saudi Arabia.

The Colchoneros are looking for a center forward to reinforce their offense after the departure of Luis Suarez as a free agent. Several important names have been mentioned, such as Raúl de Tomás, Darwin Núñez (before leaving for Liverpool) and Lautaro Martínez, but their prices have complicated their incorporations. Cristiano Ronaldo has become an interesting option due to his market value surrounding 15 million pounds.

Atletico's priority is to sign a top-level right-back, but first they have to complete several departures to have more capacity to invest in this summer transfer window. The player has not yet made a statement, so it is unknown whether he would be willing to play at the Wanda Metropolitano.
