Everyone remembers the summer transfer window, the controversial July were the unthinkable became a reality. Luis Figo arrived at Real Madrid and was presented as the star signing and the beginning of a new era for Real Madrid with Florentino Pérez as their president. Florentino's word came through, but now the tables might turn for Real Madrid.
Since Carlo Ancelotti's return to Madrid for the 2021 - 2022 season, many things have changed in his tactics and in the team. When 'Carletto' arrived, there were certain players he counted on regularly, but as the season progressed, so did the youngsters and the picture is now completely different; especially since last season's Champions League.
Lewandowski's message about the Ballon d'Or that infuriates Bayern Munich fans
Carlo Ancelotti has made clear that he counts on everyone at his squad for the entire season and that they all have an important role to play in his tactical method, but there is one player that has issues with not playing as much as he thinks he should, Marco Asensio.
Asensio announced his desire to leave at the end of last season as he wasn't being a regular player for Madrid and wanted to be a part of the World Cup and show the world his true potential. Many clubs were interested in the spanish international but he ended up staying at Madrid under the promise that he would have a bigger role this year.
Asensio's agent Jorge Mendes is Joan Laporta's close friend and this is one of the ‘key factors’ that could lead to Asensio's move to the Catalan club. Friendships aside, Asensio has one year left on his contract with Real Madrid and his renewal seems further away than desired. Asensio will have to decide what to do after the World Cup, Barça are very interested in such a signing at zero cost.
