This Monday was a date full of joy for Argentina. Lionel Messi was awarded his eighth Ballon d'Or in Paris on the same day as Diego Armando Maradona's birthday, to whom he dedicated a few words in his speech as the new winner of the award given by France Football magazine. Now, yesterday also marked two years of a sad episode for Argentine football.

On October 30, but in 2021, Sergio Agüero scared the world by putting his hand on his chest in the middle of the match between Barcelona and Alavés at the Camp Nou. Later it would be revealed that it was a cardiac arrhythmia, a heart problem that forced him to stay away from the courts overnight when Kun still had a lot to give. Since then, the one who emerged from Independiente de Avellaneda took a turn in his career and turned to the world of streaming and developed some projects such as the creation of his KRÜ esports team.

Now, this Monday, while everyone had their eyes focused on what was happening in the 2023 Ballon d'Or, and all the repercussions it left, Agüero made an emotional post remembering that fateful day that would mark his early retirement.

What did Kun Agüero say two years after his cardiac arrhythmia with Barcelona?

“Two years have passed since that difficult and painful day. There is no sadness in my heart but gratitude for everything I experienced and everything football gave me. I said then that life continued and that there was still a long way to go. And so it is. Happy for so many projects started and so many others to come. Thank you all for your endurance.”
