The racism attack on behalf of Atletico Madrid’s ultras is still a day to day thing.

It is no surprise that acts of violence and hate crimes are involved in the world of sports and specially in soccer, and even more specifically in the Spanish leagues, due to a big amount of fans that normally belong to extreme right parties or have a more conservative ideology.  Sadly, a racism attack was sudden in the Classic Metropolitan Derby at the outsides of the Civitas Stadium.

According to the Spanish radio station ‘SER” during their program “Carrusel Deportivo” they informed about a racism attack perpetrated by two extreme right Atletico Madrid’s fans over a mother and her daughter minutes before the Metropolitan Derby was about to start who were wearing a Vinicius Jr. jersey. With sounds of monkeys, insults like “viking, no” and “madridistas, motherfuckers”, the two females were harassed and intimidated.

La Liga instantly heard the terrible news and has informed that they will take legal actions on Atletico Madrid as has they have been exposed to the AntiViolence Commission and were also been reported to the local police.

According to Spanish media “El Mundo”, La Liga has enough evidence to prove the guiltiness of these two Atletico Madrid fans, and will proceed legally against them in order to eliminate any kind of hate crime that surrounds the football activity. It is still unknown if the Police Department or the National Anti Violence Commission will take the case, but the legal actions are on.

Racism attacks in La Liga

Vinicius Jr. suffered 10+ racism attacks during the 2021 season and has even been recorded by La Liga. The last and most famous case was in May 2021 when Real Madrid faced Valencia. Assistants and Valencia 's fans started to insult Vinicius Jr. The game had to be suspended until the whole stadium shut down the racism sayings.

Months later, with actions taken by Valencia and La Liga, the police could arrest seven persons who were involved in the beef against Vinicius Jr. But this isn’t the only two occasions the Spaniard football has been witness to these types of hate crimes.

Inaki Williams, the Spanish player has been subject of this racist comments when he used to play for Athletic, the first time was in a Gijon vs Athletic matchup in August 21 of 2016, as the was barely in the 22’ minute the whole attendants of the game started to make the sound a monkey does in order to attack Inaki Williams,

Marcelo, the former left wing of Real Madrid was also the protagonist of these types of insults in 2014 at a Metropolitan Derby matchup. When the game ended, with Real Madrid’s victory, Marcelo’s son jumped into the pitch to hug his dad who had a tremendous match.

Immediately, Atletico Madrid fans started to chant: “Marcelo is a monkey”, “He is not your father” and “We hope your father dies” were some of the sayings. Real Madrid accused the racism attacks on his player, but in the end nothing happened to the aggressors.
