After becoming the newest MLS Franchise, Charlotte FC, who are set to debut in the 2022 MLS Season, they were also rewarded with the first pick of the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, a position where they can pick the best available college player.

Of course, Charlotte FC couldn’t have had it any other way as they picked Ben Bender out of University of Maryland, who plays as a midfielder and will help the expansion team have a well-organized midfield and a creative playmaker.
Last year, Ben Bender was selected as the best midfielder out of the Big 10 conference, and after becoming eligible to this year’s draft, he become part of 2022 Generation Adidas class, a program that helps the best college prospects get signed by an MLS Franchise.

Bender was born in Baltimore and played the last two year for the University of Maryland Terrapins, where he was a First Team All-American after scoring seven goals and assisting on five occasions in 18 games he disputed.
