It’s no lie to say that Carlos Vela is one of the best Mexican players today, as he has become the face of Los Angeles FC, club that he joined back in 2018 for their inaugural season in the MLS, helping them establish as a contender season after season.

Since his arrival at MLS, Vela has played at the highest level of his career, especially during the 2019 MLS Season, where he was named the 2019 Landon Donovan MLS MVP, as well as breaking the record of most goals scored during a single season, with 34.

In the four and a half seasons that “El Bombardero” has played for the Black & Gold, Vela has scored 71 goals and assisted 33 times, almost tying what he did with Real Sociedad, although in LAFC it has taken him less than half of the games, as he managed to do it in 117 instead of 250.

But now that his contract with LAFC is coming to an end, his future could be far from the MLS, even if some reports suggested that LAFC already agreed to extend him for two more season, there hasn’t been an official announce, giving him the chance of signing elsewhere if a good offer arrives.

There’s a club interested in returning him to Europe

Several reports from Spain suggest that LAFC is not the only team seriously interested in signing him over the summer, as now that Javier Aguirre returned to La Liga to coach RCD Mallorca, he is interested in signing him for next season.

One of the things that stopped the Bermellones from pursuing more aggressively the addition of Carlos Vela was the uncertainty surrounding their stay in La Liga, as Aguirre arrived with only nine games left in the season with the mission of helping them avoid relegation.

With one more game on the season, it seems like Aguirre has achieved his goal, as Mallorca is standing above the relegation spots and with high chances of remaining in La Liga if they win against CA Osasuna or if Cádiz loses against Alavés.

How much can Vela earn in Mallorca?

According to reports, Carlos Vela currently has a salary of $4.5 million per season, although he is looking to increase it up to $6 million, figure that he was earning during the first four seasons with LAFC. Aguirre and Mallorca will have to offer him a similar salary to convince him to return to La Liga.
