But Carlos Vela’s contract will end over the summer and reports suggest that he’s not planning on renewing with LAFC, as he’s not feeling comfortable in his team and the MLS altogether, which opens the door to his departure from the United States.

The 32-year-old right-winger knows that he still has at least a couple of years to keep playing at a high level, which is why he doesn’t discard returning to Europe, especially to La Liga, where he’s played for four different teams.

Javier Aguirre wants to have him in Mallorca

Before arriving at the MLS, Carlos Vela’s last team was La Liga side Real Sociedad, where he played from 2012 -when the txuri-urdines acquired him from Arsenal for a $15.2 million transfer fee- up to 2018, where he shared the pitch with players like Antoine Griezmann.

His experience in La Liga, added to the talent he has is what convinced Javier Aguirre to pursue his addition for the 2022-23 La Liga Season, as he knows that if RCD Mallorca wants to transcend and leave the bottom of the table, he needs player of Vela’s caliber.

But for them to start negotiating with Vela, they will first have to ensure their stay in the Spanish top flight. For now, they’re just one spot over the relegation zone with seven games left to be played in the season.

How much will Mallorca pay him?

For the, LAFC lowered 2022 MLS Season Carlos Vela’s salary, from $6.5 million to $4.5 million. If Mallorca want to convince him to join them, they will have to pay him at least $5 million per season, a sum that according to Salary Sports, is the average for Mallorca players.
