The signings continue in MLS 2022 and today it was confirmed that 28-year-old defender DeAndre Yedlin joins Inter of Miami CF with the No. 1 allocation ranking.
Inter Miami CF keeps renovating their roster and signs Emerson Rodríguez
Yedlin is already a legend despite his youth and his achievements include winning the Concacaf Nations League, Supporters' Shield, U.S. Open Cup and EFL Championship.
The defender joins the club on a contract through the 2025 season, with a club option for 2026.
Yedlin has made more than 190 appearances in Europe's top competitions, including the Premier League, EFL Championship, Süper Lig and Europa League.
The defender has more than 65 combined appearances between the CONCACAF Champions League, MLS and U.S. Open Cup.
And his achievements with the USMNT are not to be overlooked either as he has represented the Stars and Stripes at the FIFA World Cup, CONCACAF Gold Cup, Copa America Centenario 2016 and CONCACAF Nations League.
The player's arrival was cause for celebration when it was announced on the club's social media, and they wished him the best of luck in his return home to MLS.
And there were even those who called this move the best signing Inter Miami CF has ever achieved in its history.
Another of those celebrating his arrival at the club was Head of Football and Sporting Director Chris Henderson, who said:
"I am delighted that we are able to bring a player of DeAndre's quality to Inter Miami. He is a very talented, exciting and dynamic player on the field and an experienced winner who is also a positive character in the locker room that will help us improve our squad."
In addition to this, Henderson emphasized his abilities and experience in international leagues:
"He is a well-rounded right back who likes to get up and down the pitch and has proven himself in MLS, Premier League, Süper Lig and internationally and we are looking forward to him helping us succeed now at Inter Miami."
The player also expressed himself about his arrival to the MLS team and said:
"I am very excited to join the team. When Chris Henderson spoke to my agent and told him about the possibility, I immediately said yes. It's an exciting project. To be able to work with Phil Neville is amazing and I'm also excited to be back in MLS which I know has grown a lot since I left. It's a great challenge and I'm very excited."
DeAndre Yedlin would abandon Newcastle United Football Club. Is time to return home?
The club has agreed to introduce Yedlin and the rest of its squad to its fans through a training session open to the public on Saturday, February 5 at DRV PNK Stadium.
At this session, team manager Phil Neville and the rest of the squad will welcome the club's supporters and the fans.
Yedlin's arrival has to do with the urgency for the team to improve its performance, as the club finished 11th in the Eastern Conference last season.
Part of this result was due to the fact that the team conceded 53 goals in the season, so it is a fact that the defense needed a boost and that is the reason for the player's arrival to the team.
