In 2021, reports indicated that the Mexican player was earning close to US$5 million per year. That amount made him the highest paid franchise player in MLS. It is not expected that there will be many modifications with respect to his previous contract, so Vela will be bringing in around $4 million for the next year,

The former Real Sociedad player will continue to be a franchise player in MLS. Likewise, it has not been disclosed whether the new contract will continue to include a clause in case the player has offers from European soccer.

Carlos Vela, who played with Real Sociedad, arrived in 2018 to the Los Angeles team where he has become a benchmark of the team. Since his arrival, the Mexican has scored 69 goals and 36 assists in 98 matches in which he has participated.

Carlos Vela's future will remain in the United States for at least one more year, where he is expected to form a 'scary' duo with Gareth Bale. The arrival of new players will force Vela to a pay cut, but he’s new deal is still worth upwards of US$4 million.
