Inter Miami needs roughly a miracle to qualify to the playoffs of the MLS. How much money would Gonzalo Higuaín lose if Inter Miami can't make it to the post season?

Inter Miami is facing destruction. They need roughly a miracle to qualify to the post season of the MLS. Not only they have to defeat FC Cincinnati on Sunday but also need other teams to lose and many combinations of results could end their journey.

Although is common that expansion teams fail to qualify to playoffs on their first season, the reality is that not many expansion teams had invested as much as Inter Miami has. For instance, they count on the highest salary in the whole MLS: Gonzalo Higuaín earns 7,5 million dollars a year.

To understand how high Higuaín's contract is let's just consider that Lautaro Martínez is currently earning 5 million per year and he is demanding a rise that would pair his salary with Higuaín's salary, and even when he is one of the best center-forwards in the world, Inter Milan's executives are doubting about giving him that raise.

In this sense, is clear that David Beckham  was expecting a lot from Gonzalo Higuaín, but the striker has just scored one goal and has failed to perform well regularly. Could David Beckham consider to cut him for next season? 7.5 million is a great salary and the cap space of Inter Miami has reduced a lot. If he can't convince Beckham about his value, Higuaín could lost millions.
