Another Mexican could soon join Major League Soccer (MLS), as the U.S. league itself has reported a formal offer for midfielder Héctor Herrera, who currently plays for Atlético de Madrid.

According to a report, Houston Dynamo is the team that wants to sign the national team player for the start of the 2022 season of the competition.
It is known that the Texan team would have released Joe Corona to make room in the squad for the two-time World Cup player, who would arrive as a designated player if he so desires. The Dynamo have one spot available, as the others are occupied by Sebastian Ferreira and Teenage Hadebe.
"Herrera would be a huge blow to the club and the fans, as Houston is a city with strong ties to Mexico," reads the MLS website.
Houston Dynamo is looking to renew under coach Paulo Nagamura, so they have set their sights on HH, who has struggled to earn a starting spot under Diego Simeone in LaLiga.
"I think about the present, day by day, I always work to take advantage of the opportunities I have, I will fight until the last day and then I will think about what I want for me and my family. There is a long and hard game ahead," he said a few days ago.
The decision would be taken by HH in conjunction with the Colchonero board, in addition to seeing if coach Diego Simeone has in mind the opportunity for him to stay longer with the Spanish team. If they do not reach an agreement for him to arrive immediately, they would try again to sign him in the summer.
Héctor Herrera has accumulated 69 games with Atlético de Madrid, winning the LaLiga title in the 2021-22 campaign; he previously participated in 245 games with Porto of Portugal, a team he joined in 2013 after shining with Pachuca.
If Héctor Herrera decides to accept the MLS team's offer, the former Pachuca player will join the list of players such as Chicharito Hernández, Carlos Vela, Alan Pulido, and Carlos Salcedo who, in addition to playing in this league, are also designated players.
