It seems that DC United didn’t lose time after the permanent move of Kevin Paredes to Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg for $7 million plus add-ons, as they are on the verge of signing his replacement, Brad Smith, from Seattle Sounders.

Now, DCU will have to find a new player to fill the spot left by Paul Arriola, who was announced as the newest FC Dallas acquisition, but at least they have solved the problem on defense, after Paredes departure, although Smith isn’t as young as Wolfsburg new defender.
The 27-year-old Australian left-back will join DCU on a trade for General Allocation Money, although it’s yet to be seen how much money will be involved in the trade, as Seattle Sounders is in need for GAM in order to overcome salary cap pressure.

Smith joined Seattle Sounders as a free agent back in 2020, after ending his contract with Bournemouth FC, from English top flight. So far, he’s played a total of 76 games with the Sounders, scoring three goals and assisting 10 times. He’s also an international for Australia, playing a total of 24 games for the Oceania country.
