One of the most promising players in the MLS and encouraging projects from Real Salt Lake, Cole Bassett, will be joining Dutch side Feyenoord Rotterdam this winter transfer window on an 18-month loan with option to buy.

The 20-year-old midfielder left on Wednesday night the USMNT camp to fly to Europe, where he’ll continue his soccer career. Although he was linked to Portugal side SL Benfica during the summer, he decided to stay in Utah and help his team on their run for the MLS championship, something they didn’t achieve, but now he’s ready to move.
Bassett debuted with the Royals on 2018, where he played only 6 games, but during the 2021 MLS Season he disputed 32 games, becoming a regular on the starting XI. During his 4-year stint with RSL, the American midfielder played a total of 70 games, scoring 13 times and assisting on 9 occasions.

Feyenoord Rotterdam currently stands third in Eredivisie, with 39 points after 18 games, just behind PSV and Ajax. Historically, Feyenoord is a 15-time champion of Eredivisie, the third most winning team in the league, winning their last league title on the 2016/2017 season.
