During the last years, top European teams have taken a look deeply on players in South America. It was common that many years ago countries such as Argentina, Brazil or others sold better and directly to Europe but since the last years Liga MX and MLS took the lead and are selling top players at great prizes.
But, there are still differences between ones and others. Liga MX has sold their last five more expensive players to Europe for $60 million. Hirving Lozano moved from Pachuca to Chivas for $15 million, Edson Alvarez from América to Ajax for $17 million, Diego Lainez from América to Real Betis for $15 million, Erick Gutierrez from Pachuca to PSV for $9 million and Gerardo Arteaga from Santos Laguna to Genk for $4 million.
Those last top sales from the MLS have left the clubs just a bit more than $10 million. We take a look to see that Matt Miazga moved from New York Red Bull to Chelsea for $5.4 million, Tyler Adamas from New York Red Bull to RB Leipzig for $3 million, Chris Richards from FC Dallas to Bayern Munich for $1.3 million, Henry Wingo from Seattle Sounders to Eliteserien for $270 thousand and Chris Durkin from DC United to Sint-Truiden for $182 thousand.
All in all, both leagues sold some top players who are trying to make the best in Europe, but there is still a difference that proofs that Liga MX is still selling at better prizes than what MLS does. Even a player who is set to be one of the best in the future, as Chris Richards, was sold for less than Gerardo Arteaga.
