Mexico National Team have already started their preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with a friendly game against Nigeria played on Saturday night, where El Tri beat 2-1 the Super Eagles on a game that was marked by mistakes.
Julio Furch will decide his future in the days following the Pachuca vs Atlas FC final
It was noticeable the improvement that the Aztec squad had from the level showed during the CONCACAF Qualifiers, especially during the first half, as it only took 12 minutes for El Tri to open the score thanks to Santiago Giménez, who keeps proving that he should be considered as one of the three strikers in the final roster.
But aside from him, and Raúl Jiménez, who Gerardo “Tata” Martino already said that will be helped in El Tri’s camp to recover his level prior Qatar 2022, there is a lack of strikers that can score consistently, which is why “Tata” is looking to call Julio Furch, who is close to earning his Mexican citizenship.
Reports suggest that Martino is looking to add the Atlas FC forward to El Tri as he’s been one of the most consistent strikers since his arrival at Liga MX back in 2015, but it’s been with Los Rojinegros where he’s established as the player that marks the difference every game.
It was thanks to his goal at the end of the first half in the second leg of the final of Clausura 2022 that gave Atlas a fresh breath of air after being down on the score after only 10 minutes of the game, taking off the pressure from Los Rojinegros.
Martino is waiting for him to receive his naturalization letter to give him his first call-up, and now that he showed that he can influence the result of the game, it could happen as soon as the friendly game that El Tri will have against Paraguay on August 31.
