Mexican Real Betis player Andrés Guardado withdrew from the match against Atlético de Madrid at the Benito Villamarín Stadium on Sunday, March 6, due to a muscle injury in the back of his left thigh, only ten minutes into the match of the 27th LaLiga Santander matchday.

The midfielder, who started from the starting eleven to play at left-back, damaged the muscle, quickly asked for substitution with nine and a half minutes played and 0-1 down, was replaced by Cristian Tello and made his way to the bench, where he put ice on the area where he had suffered the muscular injury.

Guardado out of the FIFA date

With this injury, Guardado will miss the FIFA matchday with the Mexican national soccer team, due to the fact that he has not recovered from the injury suffered against Atlético de Madrid. In addition to this injury, Rogelio Funes Mori of Monterrey and Julio César Domínguez of Cruz Azul are also out.

There are 12 remaining matches of the Concacaf Qualifiers to be played on March 24, 27, and 30. At this moment, Canada, the United States, and Mexico would go directly to Qatar 2022, while Panama would play for re-qualification, but all this could change with the next FIFA date.

Funes Mori and Cata Domínguez will not go either

Rogelio Funes Mori, also injured, will not be with the Tricolor for the next FIFA matchday, however, his absence had Gerardo Martino's technical staff confused about whether or not to call him up.

Julio César Domínguez will also not be an option due to injury, but his teammate at Cruz Azul, Santiago Giménez, could be the new addition to take the place of Rayados striker Rogelio Funes Mori.

Mexicans playing in Europe, such as Chucky Lozano, Tecatito, Héctor Herrera, Diego Lainez, Néstor Araujo, will remain on Tata Martino's roster for the upcoming matches as they seek to consolidate their direct pass to the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
