Gerardo Martino’s stint as El Tri coach reminds some people to the one that “Chepo” de la Torre had

On Sunday evening, El Tri made clear that the way they operate on the pitch is not working, and although that’s responsibility of Gerardo Martino, as coach of Mexico National Team, some of the players looked out of shape and without self-criticism.

That’s the case of Héctor Herrera, who according to Jorge Campos, shouldn’t be part of El Tri given how bad he looked on the midfield, as he couldn’t successfully generate clear plays for the forwards and neither helped during the recovery, as Edson Álvarez was most of the time the only midfielder on defensive duties.

Who could replace Héctor Herrera in El Tri?

Luis Romo and “Charly” Rodríguez could take his place in the match against Panama, but even Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado, who is not part of the call for this FIFA match window, is in better shape than Herrera, who keeps getting calls just because he plays in Europe.
