Jorge Campos might be one of the most recognizable Mexican players of all times, not only because of his versatility, as he played both as a goalkeeper and a striker, but also for the colorful uniforms he used and the charisma he’s known to have.

But during the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, a player from Mexico National Team couldn’t stand the fact that Campos was more famous than him and after insulting him, they got in a fist fight that might have cost El Tri their participation in the World Cup, as they had a great team.
Claudio Suárez, another Mexican legend, told the story in an interview of how Cuauhtémoc Blanco faced Jorge Campos and got into the fist fight inside the bus on the way to the stadium they were going to play against the Netherlands.

Mexico had a team full of talent for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, with players like Luis Hernández, Duilio Davino, and Ricardo Peláez, among others, but they got eliminated in Round of 16 in a 2-1 defeat against Germany.
