It’s clear that Mexico National Team hasn’t performed as expected under Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s coaching system, as they barely managed to win their 2022 first game against Jamaica, and with a 2021 full of disappointments.
Ronaldinho was impressed by him, but now he could be benched by his new coach
Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s stint as El Tri’s manager might be over soon, as he’s received lots of criticism for the players he calls and the ones he leaves out, especially young promising players like Marcelo Flores. So far, reports suggest that FMF will ask Miguel Herrera to be his replacement.
But remembering how El Tri was managed during his stint coaching the Aztec squad, it’s no lie to say that things will not change that much form the performances Mexico National Team currently has, which is why FMF is considering another option: Jaime “Jimmy” Lozano.
Although Jaime Lozano has only coached Querétaro and Mexico National Team U-20, he knows how El Tri works from the inside and was able to earn the bronze medal in Tokyo 2020. The only condition he has is to let him coach both the senior squad and the Olympics squad, as he likes to have a young team to develop.
Gerardo Martino refuses to call this player even if two Italian clubs are after him
