For a long time, Emilio Azcárraga and Televisa were known to be the ones taking decisions at the inside of Mexican Football Federation not only for what happened in Liga MX but also on the future of Mexico National Team.

But in recent years, they’ve been losing power as less people watch El Tri’s matches on Televisa’s broadcast and rather watch it on the immediate competition, TV Azteca, although they haven’t transmitted every Mexico National Team game given the divergences Azteca has had with Televisa and other broadcast companies.

Now that TV Azteca is the top choice in the Mexican market, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, owner of TV Azteca and Liga MX teams like Mazatlán FC or Club Puebla, has become one of the most important voices inside FMF, which is why he’s considering firing Gerardo “Tata” Martino after tonight’s game.

 

Who can arrive in his place?

Salinas Pliego in known for liking to create drama in order to boost TV Azteca’s ratings, which is why he would consider the arrival of Miguel Herrera, who was fired in 2015 from El Tri after assaulting TV Azteca commentator Christian Martinoli on an airport, as Martinoli was one of his most fierceful critics.
