Although Carlos Vela is currently one of the best Mexican active players, he decided to retire from Mexico National Team just a week ago. He announced that won’t be part of any other callings on an interview for ESPN.
If this coach replaces Martino in El Tri, he’ll convince Vela to return
His decision arrived amidst a wave of rumors placing him in Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s roster after Hirving “Chucky” Lozano was injured in the past FIFA match window, as Vela also plays the same position than him. But at 32, Vela closed any possibility of wearing El Tri colors again.
He’s currently focused on the preseason of Los Angeles FC, although they haven’t hade the expected results, as they’ve lost three straight games. But his decision of retiring from El Tri wasn’t just because of his lack of confidence in Martino’s project, but also was influenced by a woman in his life.
Carlos Vela is known for wanting to have his family around anywhere he goes, and Saioa Cañibano, his wife, likes to travel with him and their daughters. But with Martino’s strict discipline rules, they knew it was impossible to be together if Vela returned to El Tri camp, which is why he decided to step away.
“Chicharito” is willing to return to El Tri, but not everyone is happy with his decision
