After rumors of Carlos Vela’s potential return to Mexico National Team started going around on recent days, yesterday “El Bombardero” surprised everyone by revealing that he already decided to close the door to El Tri and officially retire from Mexico National Team.

The 32-year-old right-winger knows that he still has two or three years playing at the highest level, but he’s going to focus on exploit those years solely with the club he’s playing, for now that club is Los Angeles FC, but it could change over the summer-.
Vela said that he’s stepping down from El Tri in order to give the new generations the chance of shine with the Aztec colors, as one of the main problems Mexico National Team has faced in the last World Cup cycles is the lack of opportunities that younger players have.
Carlos Vela is mostly remembered by his protagonist participation during the 2005 FIFA World Cup U-17 in Venezuela, where El Tri won their first U-17 World Cup. He also won two CONCACAF Gold Cups in 2009 and 2015.
