A lot has been said about Carlos Vela’s retirement from Mexico National Team, as he announced earlier this week during an interview for ESPN, claiming that he knew his time had already passed and that now is time for the younger generations to take the lead.
Carlos Vela thinks this player should be Mexico National Team’s next number 10
It’s true that Vela wasn’t part of any calls since El Tri was eliminated from Russia 2018 in the round of 16, when they lost 2-0 against Brazil National Team, but his talent was always missed on the pitch, especially on the last year, when El Tri’s lack of goals was evident.
Although Gerardo “Tata” Martino never called Vela and “El Bombardero” didn’t agree with the rigid discipline that the Argentinean coach imposed in El Tri’s camp, there were other people involved in his disappearance from Mexico National Team.
According to reports, Héctor Moreno was behind his absence, given that they had problems during Vela’s last stint with El Tri, as he revealed that sponsors and FMF didn’t give equal prizes to all the players.
This is what Gerardo Martino asked Vela to do if he wanted to return to El Tri
