It’s no lie to say that Carlos Vela is one of the best Mexican players of the moment, as he’s Los Ángeles FC top scorer in the season and captain of the Black & Gold. Even if he’s on his last season with LAFC, his future could be in Europe again, giving the level he’s playing.
Luka Romero won’t play for Mexico National Team, but this striker does wants to represent El Tri
That didn’t help to be considered by Gerardo “Tata” Martino to be part of Mexico National Team, as Vela hasn’t played a single game with El Tri since the elimination in the round of 16 in Russia 2018, which led to announcing his retirement from the Aztec squad a couple weeks ago.
His retirement proved one of Martino’s points, given that he never considered that Vela was committed to sacrifice his comfort to play for Mexico National Team, as according to reports, the main reason for which he hasn’t played in the Martino Era is because he felt that the discipline of the Argentine coach was too tight.
That doesn’t cover the fact that El Tri needs a striker that is on a streak, and Martino’s answer could be in Brazil, where a Mexican Brazilian player is starting to shine in the Brazilian league, as Alejandro Viniegra joined RB Bragantino for the current season.
The 19-year-old forward was born in Brazil after a Mexican mother, which is why he holds both Mexican and Brazilian nationalities. He started his career with Cruzeiro, as he was part of their academy teams until 2021, when his contract ended.
Viniegra decided to migrate to the United States and played a year in North Texas SC, the reserves team of FC Dallas, before returning to Brazil to join RB Bragantino, although he currently plays for RB Brasil, the reserves team, where he’s waiting to have his opportunity to debut with the senior squad.
If Viniegra keeps showing his talent on the pitch, he could arrive in Europe in the next few years, as belonging to a soccer group like Red Bull could open the doors for him to arrive either in RB Salzburg or RB Leipzig.
Until that happens, he’ll have to proving himself in the Brazilian soccer and with Mexico National Team, as he’s part of their U-20 squad, although he started his process with A Canarinha, where he played for their U-16 squad before deciding to represent Mexico.
