Several commitments are approaching for the Mexican national team and we already know the only reason why Martino will not call his spoiled player to El Tri for Mexico's future games.
The reason why Rogelio Funes Mori doesn’t play with Monterrey anymore
And day by day, the names of the players called up for the complicated schedule that Mexico will have in May and June, months in which it will have preparation matches for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar 2022, are becoming known little by little.
It is already known in Mexico that Gerardo Martino will not call up his favorite player, Rogelio Funes Mori, due to the fact that he has not recovered from a left knee injury.
And while Mexico's media claim that Funes Mori will not be called up due to his lack of playing time and that this injury has diminished his credibility in Martino's eyes, it is more likely that the injury is the real reason for his absence from El Tri.
The Mexico coach will continue to announce his list of 38 called-up players in the coming weeks, but what is certain is that the "Mellizo" will not appear in the final call-up.
And while his absence from the game is reason enough, it is really the knee injury that prevents "Tata" from calling his favorite player to the Mexican national team.
Injuries are an issue that Rogelio Funes Mori has always had to deal with and these have been increasingly constant since his arrival at Rayados de Monterrey, a team in which the player played little in Liga MX 2022.
Just after his condition was made known, the club's board of directors released a statement in which they informed the following:
"After undergoing imaging studies and being evaluated by a knee specialist, the decision was made to perform an arthroscopy to clean the joint, which will be carried out this Wednesday, April 20".
Rayados' fans thought that their player would return to the fields soon, but this was not the case and Funes Mori will miss the Clausura 2022 tournament and will also miss the next games of the Mexican national team.
A tear kept him away from the fields since matchday 9, that is, he has missed 8 games of the tournament, and he could not be with his club when they were eliminated by Atlético San Luis.
With this team, the Rayados managed to tie 2-2 in regular time and went to the penalty shootout series, but that was where they failed and could not advance to the Liguilla.
Guillermo Ochoa still has the opportunity of returning to European soccer
