Even if Javier “Chicharito” Hernández hasn’t played with Mexico National Team since 2019, when El Tri played a friendly match against USMNT that ended 3-0 and where Hernández scored one of the goals, he hasn’t closed the door to an eventual return.
If Javier Hernández doesn’t return to Mexico National Team, they already have his replacement
Whether it will be with Gerardo “Tata” Martino or the coach that comes after him, “Chicharito” still wants to play for El Tri, as he knows he has a lot to give the Aztec squad, especially in the situation they’re living right now.
Mexico National Team needs a striker that can score, as neither Rogelio Funes Mori nor Henry Martín is that player, and Martino is considering not calling them for the upcoming FIFA match window, as the match against USMNT will be one of their toughest games and he needs the best available players.
And since “Chicharito” scored 17 goals last season, being the only player in LA Galaxy scoring double digits, and started the 2022 MLS Season continuing his streak, he gave the 1-0 victory to the Galaxy against the current MLS Champion, New York City FC, it only makes sense that he’ll be part of Martino’s list.
Amidst a wave of rumors of his possible return to Mexico National Team, “Chicharito” Hernández posted a video in which he assumes responsibility of his actions instead of pretending to be the victim, showing the growth he’s had in recent years.
The video was followed by a caption saying: “Life has taught me to step out of my comfort zone, to channel my problems and feel my emotions on the deepest possible way. But I’m never going to stop my life again to victimize myself. I assume my responsibility and I keep going.”
Reports suggest that there will be surprises in the list of players that Martino will call for the last CONCACAF Qualifiers match window, which opens the door to a possible return of “Chicharito” after more than two years vetoed from El Tri.
The options that Martino has to complement Raúl Jiménez, who is the only forward that has secured his place in the roster, are Santiago Giménez, from Cruz Azul, who slowly is starting to get on a streak, Julio Furch, who has said in the past that he’d love to play for El Tri, and now Javier “Chicharito” Hernández.
Carlos Salcedo could return to Mexico National Team if he fulfills this request of Gerardo Martino
