Marcelo Flores is one of the most promising players that Mexico National Team currently has, not only because he’s established himself as a starter for Arsenal’s U-23 squad with just 18 years, but also because he's just one step away from debuting with the senior team.
Carlos Salcedo could return to Mexico National Team if he fulfills this request of Gerardo Martino
His outstanding performances with the Gunners U-23, have earned him praise and gather interest from multiple teams, including Canada MNT, who are still trying to convince him to join them for the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup, as they’re finally having a real chance of competing at a high level.
But even if Marcelo Flores has declined joining them several times, confirming his compromise with El Tri, Gerardo “Tata” Martino hasn’t given him any opportunities to prove why he’s part of one of the best teams in Premier League, although his future might be far from England.
Reports suggest that his future is going to be in La Liga, as in the past winter transfer window, at least three Spanish clubs were interested in acquiring him, although Arsenal didn’t listen to any of the offers made by Real Betis, Sevilla and FC Barcelona.
Since it became obvious that FC Barcelona is interested in the 18-year-old offensive midfielder, Arsenal was tempted to include the economic rights of Flores in a transfer deal for Philippe Coutinho, as Mikel Arteta wanted the Brazilian left-winger, although the deal was never made as he ended joining Aston Villa.
But the Blaugranas still have Flores on their list of potential additions for the next season, as the talent that has showed at a young age is perfect for the scheme that Xavi Hernández is implementing in Barcelona.
Marcelo Flores doesn’t see with bad eyes arriving to the Catalonian club, as he’s been a follower of Barcelona in the past and has said that one of his biggest dreams is wearing the Blaugrana colors, something that could happen sooner rather than later.
Gerardo “Tata” Martino has only given Marcelo Flores 10 minutes on the pitch with the senior Mexico National Team squad, which means that he knows of his talent and is aware of his potential. He hasn’t considered him just yet to be part of his roster, although that might change if Flores debuts either in Premier League or La Liga and gains regularity.
The message from Javier Hernández now that his return to Mexico National Team is close
