It’s no lie to say that Lionel Messi is one of the best soccer players in history, as he’s won everything that there’s to be won, except for the World Cup, although he has the chance to win it this year, as Argentina is one of the favorite teams to win it.
This would be the Mexican National Team's schedule for this summer
With FC Barcelona, Messi won 35 trophies including four Champions League and 10 La Liga titles since his debut in 2004 until the 2020-21 season, when he left as a free agent to join Ligue 1 side PSG, where he currently plays.
Although since he arrived at PSG his performances have diminished a bit from what he was used to play in Barcelona, something that was evident during the Champions League, where he failed a penalty kick and then wasn’t able to help the Parisians beat Real Madrid.
But given that he has one more year on his contract with PSG, he’ll have one more chance to prove that he can achieve big things even if he’s not playing for the Blaugranas, which is why he recommended PSG to sign one of the best prospects in the world for the next season.
According to reports from the Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Messi advice PSG management to hire one of the players that is considered to be his successor in soccer once he retires, as he’s often referred to as the Mexican Messi.
The Argentine superstar was impressed with the talent of Luka Romero when he trained with him during the last FIFA match window, as Lionel Scaloni gave Romero his first call-up to the Argentina National Team thanks to his performances in Lazio.
PSG knows that they can’t let pass an opportunity like this, as the presence of Romero would make Messi improve his performances. It’s yet to be know how much Lazio will ask for Romero’s transfer, but it will be almost impossible for them to maintain him due to the economic power of PSG.
Even if he already received his first call-up to La Albiceleste, Romero didn’t play a single minute for Argentina, which leaves the door open for Mexico to convince him to wear El Tri colors as he has yet to debut with Argentina’s first team.
